My goal with this series is to bring you angsty, emotional romance starring fully developed characters set in a world that feels dark, lush, and real. I'm releasing the series rapidly as I write it. Fingers crossed a new book will release every 2-3 months.
This eight book series kicks off April 8, 2025 with the story of Selene and Killian in Echoes of Night.
Selene Beaumont was raised in servitude in the mysterious, wooded hills of the Ozarks where werewolf packs rule. The daughter of an Alpha Pair, but wolfless. A shameful stain on her family line. A lifetime of abuse taught her to keep her head down, her heart guarded, and above all: never trust anyone in power.
Killian Darrow is the strongest Alpha in a generation. He thought he would end the bloody, decades-long pack wars that followed the death of his father, the tyrannical Alpha King, and return stability to his people. Instead, he was cursed. His wolf became a bloodthirsty monster that murdered his first mate in cold blood. Now all he wants is to keep his pack intact and everyone he loves at a distance. It’s the only way they’ll be safe.
When Selene’s parents send her across the war-torn pack boundary as a sacrifice to Killian in her spoiled sister’s place, she expects to die. Instead, Selene and Killian discover the impossible—her touch quiets his curse. Killian claims her as part of the fragile treaty between their packs and brings Selene home to Shattered Moon. She’s exactly what he needs—wolfless can’t form a mate bond and Killian swore never to take a mate again.
But despite her mistrust of powerful Alphas and his determination to keep her at arm’s length, their connection burns too brightly to ignore. When Killian accidentally unmasks Selene’s hidden nature, they’re plunged into a deadly game of power and betrayal that dates back decades. As buried truths rise and hidden enemies close in, Killian and Selene must defy their pasts or lose everything they’ve built—and everything they’re just beginning to find in each other.
Which Aspect are you?
Shattered Moon takes place in our world, but it's been reimagined as if magic returned and changed most of what we know. In this world, about half of humanity discovered that they carry magic in their blood in one form or another. These "Aspects" of humanity take the form of familiar supernatural creatures.
Werewolves rove the forests of the world. They live in traditional pack structures. What's different about the werewolves in the world of Shattered Moon is that instead of Alphas only being male, Alphas can be male or female. Any single Alpha can lead a pack, but a mate-bonded Alpha Pair means both the Alphas and the pack are stronger.
Like in many stories, my wolves can mate-bond. They do this by biting each other, usually during sex, and using magic specific to wolves to bond their souls. This allows them to speak telepathically, sense their mate's emotions, and know generally where their mate is. Most wolves choose their mates, but on occasion the Fates will assign a pair as fated mates. The bond between fated mates is without compare. It's not a gift to be taken lightly.
The population of vampires in this world is small compared to other Aspects or mundane humans. They tend to live in cities, congregating in families. They burn in sunlight, and so only emerge at night. They're ruthless in business and frequently associate with human crime lords. They live lives of opulent, decadent wealth. They're ruled by the oldest among them, who are the strongest. A handful of Vampire Regnants survived the disappearance of magic from the world. They are old, indeed. From their penthouses and hidden places, they pull the strings of power like puppet masters.
This Aspect includes winged sylphs, water-breathing naiads, tree-loving dryads, etc. They're not unified like some of the other Aspects and tend to keep to themselves.
Both male and female, witches are the most versatile human magic-users in this world. Their magic is varied and can take the form of cozy hearth magic or powerful ceremonial spells that call on the power of the stars. Witch magic is learned. Spells are written in books, like recipes. Often, witches will have an affinity to a certain kind of magic (green magic, kitchen/hearth magic, crystal magic, lunar or solar magic, alchemy, astrological magic, high ceremonial magic, etc.) and make it their area of study. Witches require components and have to learn their spells, often preparing them beforehand if they think they might have to cast them later.
Witches are clannish. Either they're in leadership positions in mundane human cities and towns, living in covens of their own kind on the outskirts, or are hermits alone in the forest. The most powerful tend to prefer solitude.
Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Shadow. Elemental mages are born with a deep, innate connection to their powers and know how to use them instinctively. While they aren't as versatile as witches, their magic is as quick as thought and often packs more of a punch. Elemental Mages live on the borders of mundane human settlements and cities as people often fear their raw power. They tend to work as soldiers and enforcers, either becoming warlords themselves or working for them.
Cousins of the Nature Touched, sirens are the people of the sea. They live on the coasts and won't go far from the oceans if they have a choice. Sirens are extremely rare, and many don't trust them because of their ability to control minds with the sound of their voice. This mistrust has led many sirens to live outside of society, and several have taken up piracy. However, siren songs can also calm the sea, and in the post-magical world of Shattered Moon, the ships of the powerful employ at least one siren.
Make no mistake--the fae are not human. After the Waking, they reappeared in the mountainous areas of the world. After a few skirmishes, humans were happy enough to cede the high, rocky places to the mysterious people. The fae largely ignore humanity. They're cold and aloof, even to their own. They value beauty above all. Many of them have the ability to craft magical objects. Some can walk in dreams, making them perfect spies. Rumor has it the most powerful among them can warp the very fabric of reality.
